Collective Soul played a free concert in downtown Houston, TX. Subway hosted a Tailgate Party to kick off the Texans/Greenbay game today in Jones Plaza which is a one block outdoor site for free shows. During the summer they have what is called "Party on the Plaza" every thursday night. Then they showed the game on a HUGE screen.

A friend and I went to this only to see Collective Soul....don't really watch football anymore. We ended up in the front of the stage. It almost got canceled due to rain, but the band said that they would go ahead and play, Bless them!! Their song list was (in no set order):

DECEMBER

SHE SAID

GEL

HEAVY

THE WORLD I KNOW

SHINE

RUN

WHY

PRECIOUS DECLARATION

and three or four from their new album YOUTH.

They only played for about an hour/hour and a half. They were supposed to come on at 5pm, but it was raining. Luckily it stopped long enough for them to play. It started up again on their second or third to last song. Show started at 6:30pm. I got some really good pics, I will post some.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
