Death Grips Release Free Album Government Plates

Death Grips have taken to Facebook to once again unexpectedly share a new release for free, in its entirety. This one is called Government Plates; that's the art, above. Download the record here or here. Stream the whole thing below as well, via Soundcloud.

At Facebook, Death Grips have also posted visuals for various songs on the album. Watch one below for a song called "You might think he loves you for your money but I know what he really loves you for it's your brand new leopard skin pillbox hat". Watch the rest of the videos on their YouTube channel.

Death Grips released their last full-length, NO LOVE DEEP WEB, online in similar fashion, sharing it for free with fans to the surprise of their label (who dropped them). In May, drummer Zach Hill confirmed that he would be taking some time off from Death Grips' touring act, in order to write and direct a feature film soundtracked by Death Grips—at the time, the band also confirmed that a new Death Grips album was in the works. The band has perpetually cancelled tour dates and festival appearances throughout the year.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?

But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
