BBC radio listeners will be able to celebrate the holidays with a real-life Grinch this year. According to the Guardian, Iggy Pop will host two shows on BBC 6 Music, one on Christmas Day and one on New Year's Day.

A radio show devoted to "rockin' rebels", airing midday on December 25, sounds like it'll be more of an Iggy Pop show than a Christmas show: "I was a little worried that the listening might feel ragged for the kind of people who can't embrace Duane Eddy and, say, the Last Poets in the same hour with Doc Watson," he said. "Well, that's too damn bad."

The New Year's one will be devoted to "heartbreak and heartaches."

Both shows are part of 6 Music's week-long holiday broadcast, which also includes an interview with Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich on Christmas, a two-hour special from the Clash's Mick Jones and Paul Simonon on December 26, and a show of "essential a cappella tracks" from Brian Eno and Jarvis Cocker

That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
