Swedish singer/songwriter/rapper Neneh Cherry burst onto the scene in the late 80s/early 90s with her genre-busting album Raw Like Sushi and the hit "Buffalo Stance". She will release a new album in early 2014 via Smalltown Supersound. It's her first solo album in over 16 years. It was produced by Four Tet, her musical collaborators are RocketNumberNine, and the album features a guest appearance from Robyn.

According to a press release, the album was made over five days, recording and mixing two songs per day.

"It was a liberating experience, not endlessly trying to fiddle with the music, re-recording hundreds of times. These days it's easy to create any effect or sound on a computer, it is much harder to get the rawness I think we've achieved," said Cherry.

Cherry collaborated with jazz group the Thing last year for The Cherry Thing.

But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
