Bauhaus Frontman Peter Murphy Sentenced to Three Years Probation for Methamphetamine Possession

Peter Murphy, frontman of British goth-rock act Bauhaus, was arrested after allegedly rear-ending a car. Later, police found meth in the patrol car where Murphy was sitting. According to the Glendale News Press (via Consequence of Sound), Murphy pleaded no contest to the hit-and-run charges, but pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine.

He was sentenced to three years of probation and must complete 45 days of Narcotics Anonymous meetings.

Murphy's guilty plea to the meth charge may be expunged from his criminal record if he successfully attends the meetings. He's also agreed to random drug testing.

Initially, Murphy pleaded not guilty to all three charges. He offered his new plea after a deal with prosecutors, which dropped a charge of driving under the unfluence of drugs.

Murphy is currently touring to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Bauhaus.

But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
