Dâm-Funk & Snoopzilla: "Faden Away" on SoundCloud.

Dâm-Funk and Snoop Dogg (under the name Snoopzilla) have teamed up, and they call themselves 7 Days of Funk. Their self-titled collaborative LP is out December 10 via Stones Throw. That's their first single "Faden Away" above.

“We're the babies of the Mothership,” Snoop said of the collaboration (via a press release). “I’ve had funk influences in my music my whole career. Dâm-Funk is cold. He’s keeping the funk alive and I knew I had to get down with him.”

“Snoop knew what I was thinking without me having to articulate it. That’s how you know when you gel artistically with someone,” said Dâm-Funk. “These beats were made for him and he laid down some of the smoothest harmonies and melodies I’ve ever heard. It’s hip-hop, but you can also hear what we grew up on, from Zapp to Evelyn 'Champagne' King and Patrice Rushen.”

Snoop is calling himself Snoopzilla for this project in homage to legendary funk bassist Bootsy Collins, who often called himself Bootzilla.

Guests on the album will include Daz Dillinger, Kurupt, and Steve Arrington.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
