sidvicious.jpgTo punks, image was as important as music. The Sex Pistols' Sid Vicious was a poor bassist but an excellent icon: he lived fast, died young and left a cool-looking corpse.

A new London exhibition devoted to the visual imagery of the Sex Pistols bristles with the aggressive, improvised spirit of the movement. What it reveals more than anything else is that movement's influence on marketing.

yes, i too like music that's performed well and i believe the PUnk i dig (as well as the other genres i dig) anyway, in my POV it's performed well. i know in your opinion, and respectc the fact that the kind of music you like is performed well, too.

but personally i identify w/the punk ethos of do-it-yourself as it began, way back when. and i love to dress up, something i had to quit doing in NYC (of all places!) because the fucks on the street were so rude.

This is why I hate punk music/people/whatever.

I like music that is performed well.

I could care less what anyone looks like.

How though, the punk image for the sex pistols was a major selling point, cant speak for the punk image now though..with it being the mainstream image for every teen.

Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
