Listen to New Albums From Modern Life Is War and Chastity Belt, Plus New Compilation from Greco-Roman, Via Pitchfork Advance

Iowa hardcore band Modern Life Is War are back after a half-decade hiatus with a new album, Fever Hunting, featuring their original lineup. It's out September 3 on Deathwish Inc. Listen here, via Pitchfork Advance, our immersive music streaming platform designed to emulate the classic album experience.

Greco-Roman is a London/Berlin collective and label co-run by Joe Goddard of Hot Chip. They've released music from Disclosure, Goddard himself, Baio of Vampire Weekend, and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, among others. The new compilation We Make Colourful Music Because We Dance in the Dark features tracks from those artists and more, plus remixes from Four Tet, Lone, Soulwax, and others. It's out August 12 in the UK and August 19 in the U.S., and it's available to stream here via Pitchfork Advance. The physical version of the album will be released on double CD and, yes, limited edition engraved whistle.

No Regerts  (yes, that's spelled correctly) is the debut full-length from Seattle band Chastity Belt. It's out next week via Help Yourself. Stream it here.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
      You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention. 
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
