He has 209 hits with 32 games remaining, beginning tonight in Toronto. He's on a pace for 260 hits. The major-league record is 257 set by George Sisler of the St. Louis Browns in 1920. He also has had three 50-hit months this season - the first player to do that.

"The record was set when you were seeing one pitcher, maybe two. Now they're specializing by bringing in guys just to get him out. What he's doing just hasn't happened."

Dude is still on a buzz from Florida....his Ichiro statistics are old. Suzuki has 243 hits as of today, only 14 away from breaking a very old record:

My google search was outdated :o but at least I knew who he was

Go Ichiro!!

With seven games left, Suzuki has 251 hits -- six short of the major league record set by Hall of Famer George Sisler in 1920. Suzuki went 1-for-4 in Seattle's 9-0 rout of the Rangers on Sunday, adding to his major league record with his 215th single of the season.

Suzuki Breaks Record for Hits

By TIMOTHY EGAN

Published: October 2, 2004

SEATTLE, Oct. 1 - Chasing a nearly forgotten ghost of the game, Ichiro Suzuki broke one of baseball's oldest records Friday night, smoking a single up the middle for his 258th hit of the year and breaking George Sisler's record for most hits in a season, which was set in 1920.

Suzuki broke the 84-year-old record in his second at-bat, leading off the bottom of the third facing Ryan Drese and the Texas Rangers. Suzuki had tied the record in his first at-bat, when he sent a two-strike pitch bouncing over the head of Rangers third baseman Hank Blalock. He added another single in the sixth inning.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
