Watch Carrie Brownstein Star in a Goofy American Express Ad

Carrie Brownstein, of Wild Flag, Sleater-Kinney, and "Portlandia" fame, stars in a new American Express Ad. She depicts various sorts of goofy characters using their AmEx cards.

First she's a nerdy businessperson buying ice cream, then she teaches sitar, shops for records, and, finally, buys groceries with her fictional children. AmEx pegs her as a "sketch comedy master". "I'm Carrie Brownstein," she says at the end, "and I get to be whoever I want."

After the AmEx clip, watch Brownstein sing Sleater-Kinney's "Modern Girl" in the band's video for the 2005 Woods track:

Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
