I was working in the Mohave desert today and it was a balmy 108 F. When I came home to the beach it was 78 F. It actually felt cold. The desert is bitchin though as there is no humidity. The Colorado river that runs through lower AZ is the place to be. Floating bars and bikinis everywhere. ;)

The water is like 75F and the outside temp averages 115-120F in the summer. Add a lot of beer, jet skis and a wakeboat and all is good.

I think I could bare the heat for a little bit of that action

Mx: I have a friend who lives near Lake Havasu...I hear only good things about that place and she's shown some really awesome picks of her boat on the water and those floating bars. :Here's to you: I've always wanted to see the Red Rocks too...One day I'll get my ass over there. <_>

I'm thinking I may be off the net for a bit later. According to the warning flashing along the bottom of the droning tv, we could recieve 70 to 100 ml (3-4 inches) in the next 2 hours. That'll be a flood if it happens.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
