Baptists Angry at Bush Campaign Tactics

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Southern Baptist Convention, a conservative denomination closely aligned with President Bush, said it was offended by the Bush-Cheney campaign's effort to use church rosters for campaign purposes.

"I'm appalled that the Bush-Cheney campaign would intrude on a local congregation in this way," said Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission.

This administration is all about alienation. Nation against nation, class against class, religion against religion, political party against political party....the devisiveness of George Bush and his cronies is unrivaled. Now it seems to be turning inward on itself.

If anyone is about alienation its the democrats. Not only have they divided veternns, relgious groups in two ways, amoung religious groups themselves in some cases, and .second the anti-religous nuts who want to intrude on people's beliefs.

Plus the democrats being oppotunistic and exploiting the war on terrorism and the war on iraq for political gain. If you dont believe me then please go look up what the now democrat congress leaders said about iraq during 1998 when Clinton bombed iraq, how iraq was a threat to the security to the US, that saddam was a threat, and that we should take action even if its unilateral if neccessary.

All of which is why im not voting democrat for a very very long time. Which two years ago i would have voted who ever was the better canadiate. regardless of party.

:rotfl: Someone's been feeding you the wrong B.S., Nulls. Frankly, both political parties have alot of similarities, and a lot to criticize, but I wouldnt even remotely consider the above statements to reflect the Democratic Party, and Ive never heard otherwise from anyone in any media anywhere.

during 1998 when Clinton bombed iraq...

Funny you should bring up Clinton. Are you referring to the Clinton who wanted to bomb Bin Laden in 2000 but the Republicans started hollering "wag the dog" and nixed the idea? Oh then there was W's great follow-up plan, to sit on on his frikking hands and taking 4 months of vacation while handing our energy policy off to the brain trust that was Enron while ignoring every red flag that came across his desk until the planes started flying into large American buildings.

And where Osama now? Word on the street is that he isn't even running from us anymore. So far we have given him little reason to. Sleep tight, Florida voters.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
