heh

We went garage sailing today, and they were plentiful. In the wealthier section of town we found a sail on every block on average. I was all proud of myself for finding a cd-rom for a dollar. Never have to many of those, so I was pretty pleased with myself. Until......

I picked up an older system for 2 bucks. The cd-rom and 3 1/2 floppy were worth that. On the lighter side, it also included a 5 1/4 floppy. Looks like I have an emulator system. ;)

Not so much garage sales here as 'Car Boot Sales' where people gather at a prearranged venue like a car park or field with a car boot (trunk for you odd English speakers) full of crap from their garage/attic/under the sink... and sell it to the unwitting hoarder as treasure.

I'm a junk addict... everything might come in handy sometime.... so I had to give up going to sales while I still had a small clear passage through the house.

Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
