Could they not add it manually if they really cared? (Google I mean)

That the problem with "blanket" filtering solutions. They just don't work. You just can't filter every instance of the word "sex" in a web page or domain name. That's just lazy.

There are educational sites and sites such as this (partsexpress.com) that are perfectly legitimate sites. This reminds me of a couple of examples.

The first, is Filemirrors (owned and operated by the folks who create the Getright download manager). I posted the thread here:

The second is the fact that web sites, internet groups, and ISPs have been blacklisting entire IP ranges of the Comcast ISP and other people because some members send spam from their accounts. Another very generic filter that is way to broad.

I feel "filtering" cases like this have to be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.

I think that would simply take too much time. I imagine google feels the same.

It might not be friendly, but it surely is easier to throw down a big blanket and wait for some of the people under it to bring their lack of sunlight to your attention.

That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
