Cor baby, that's really free

I was given a John Otway greatest Hits CD last year sometime but I only listened to it today. I hadnt heard of him since his 70's 'Cor Baby That's Really Free' and 'Beware of the Flowers' (cos I'm sure they're gonna get you .... yeah!)

On this CD he does a couple of covers of well known tunes, House of the Rising Sun (with audience participation)... and Delilah. The humour throughout the CD is a tonic. I only wish I'd listened to it sooner. Bunsen Burner is a classic...

"John first became notorious back in 1977, after an appearance on the Old Grey Whistle Test with his former partner Wild Willy Barrett. He had leapt astride Wild Willy´s amplifier and lost his footing. One leg slipped on one side of the sturdy wooden piece of musical equipment and the other leg down the other. The whole weight of Otway´s body crashed down on the most delicate parts of his body."
