Early Set by Peter Munch

Free Admission and Open Vodka Bar in August before 11pm with Flyer

m50
For the last twelve years, m50 has been making a name for himself using a variety of small footprints, rather than leaving a crater behind. His production styles, under which he uses the alternate alias Area, contain elements of both ambient music influenced by abstract soundscapes and dancefloor tracks that are deep, dark and driving. His early releases around 2004 involved remixes with Elleinad, a one-woman IDM project based out of Toronto, while his upcoming release on Wave Music is a new, refined sound for him; one that still holds true to the experimental atmospheres that colored the greatest parts of Warp and Skam's early catalogue, but also embodies the minimal dancefloor sound that is being touted by Audion or Kompakt's expanding Speicher series.

Peter Munch
While Peter’s soundscape can be related to Carl Craig, Trentemoller, and Henrik Schwarz, he has spent the last 4 years developing a fresh, new sound he calls “Soultech”. Soultech is full of organic, warm elements infused with powerful techno beats. Productions range from chilled out pieces that feel like melodic compositions (Sailor’s Lullabye) to faster, groovier tracks meant for primetime dancing (The Sound of Tech). Peter has produced over 20 EPs since 2007, all out on Beatport on the following labels: Bagpak, Quarterlife, and Cosmopolitan Records.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
