Yorch: 'Ten Minutes To Heaven EP'

1. Ten Minutes To Heaven

2. 071907

A trained sound engineer with a penchant for innovation and experimentation, Yorch, continues to blur boundaries and break rules as he strives for inventive and imaginative music. ‘Ten Minutes To Heaven’, the follow-up to last year’s ‘Mental Encounter EP’, is a brilliantly novel trial of sounds underpinned by depth and emotion; and it comes off superbly. Both clever and enthralling, it’s an absolute winner.

1. ‘Ten Minutes To Heaven’ – A deep techno cut on which Yorch shrewdly fuses industrial creaks and bleeps with yearning chords and queasily eerie melody.

2. ‘071907’ – A proper jump-up-and-down knees-up invigorated by big live drums clapping on top of tunnels of distorted sound.

Yorch is former radio producer and university-trained sound engineer, Jorge Garcia. Jorge also produces with Daniel Ferreira under the name, Clubbervision, and has had a string of successful releases on labels such as Global Underground, Looq and Politik. His debut release as Yorch, ‘Mental Encounter EP’, found a place on the playlists of Hernan Cattaneo, Murray Richardson, Joshua Collins and Kosmas Epsilon.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
