Theophilus London & The Lovers: TnT

Official Press Release:

NYC/LDN is doing one last voyage across the waters to bring over New York's take on the new pop wave/rap phenomenon crashing the shorelines. Concluding the third and last session of this series, two of New York's bravest crusaders in that downtown scene - Theophilus London and Roxy Cottontail.

Theophilus London brings the future of Hip Hop to its knees. A stand out young mc straight out of Brooklyn, Theophilus London's rap style borrows influences from 80s pop, 90s R&B, and today's electro sound. Sum that up and add his energetic stage performance makes him a definite "one to watch in 2009". Theophilus's debut work Jam! is available for free download on his myspace page. Look out for a debut album next year on the same label as Jimmy Edgar- normRex/Warp Records.

New York City's "It Girl" Roxy Cottontail is the new definition of Blonde Ambition. A dj, promoter, artist, magazine cover girl, street wear maven - Roxy represents the colorful side of NY nightlife. Roxy's taste making skills has been credited for making the Baltimore sound popular in NYC with breaking acts Spank Rock and Hollertronix at her popular weekly Soho club night. She is now taking her turn as a recording artist, with guest appearing on Armand Van Helden's single "Playmate."

A little club schooling will be taking place when the talented young New Yorkers hand the dance floor reins over to the steady hands of London's broken beat aristocracy - Orin Walters (Bugz in the Attic) and Bopstar (Coopr8). Orin and Bopstar are currently celebrating the first release of their new compilation series - Our Music Our Culture (Muthas Inventions/k7! Records).

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
