Bloc Party - Intimacy

Intimacy is the third studio album by Bloc Party, which was released online in MP3 format on 21 August and will be released in physical form on October 27.

No album artwork has come, as of yet.

Bloc Party fans were only drawn attention to a shock announcement on the Bloc Party website, that their new album 'Intimacy' was available for pre order on physical format; and for the people who chose to pre-order recieved 10 songs off the album early in digital format.

The new album is seen as many fans as a contrast between the debut, raw sounding 'Silent Alarm' and their second, more melodic 'A Weekend In The City'; but yet with an additional electronic twist.

Peronally I really like the new sound, and I believe It's the right step for the still progressing London band to take. The small percentage of fans who became obsessed and loyal to 'Silent Alarm' seem to become ever disappointed with Bloc Party releases, however, I believe this attempt at almost starting a new sub-genre and breaking away from their old material will bring a more varied audience in, from both alternative rock and electronic backgrounds.

Anyway I've ranted long enough, not introduced a track over here for a long while. I'll let you judge for yourselves.

Ion Square is a great song, to end the album anyway.

The lead singer, Kele claimed it to be his favourite I'm sure.

My summer was really good thanks DAIC. Leeds Festival was amazing.

Back to school now though..

How about yours?

Who did you see at Leeds? Were Kings of Leon there?

Summer was sort of mellow, could have seen more concderts - but my tennis game still needs work

No not Kings Of Leon, although they are reumoured for next year I think.

The big ones were;

Rage Against The Machine

Metallica

The Killers

There were other big bands like Queens of The Stone Age but my tastes don't fit a lot of the more known stuff.

Bloc Party were my favourite :)

The Subways and The Enemy were good too.

PLayed a lot of tennis? Never picked that up myself. Got a football (soccer) match tomorrow though. ;)

Not of a lot of electronic bands, its sounds like. How were The Killers?

The olympics are just around the corner - it's good you are preparing

haha. Britain to win it? :D

Somehow doubt that.

There were a few electronic bands but to be fair It's a rock festival.

If you've heard of:

Pendulum

Crystal Castles

Hadouken

and then Dizzee Rascal.

But not much electronic stuff unfortunately.

Oh yeah, and the Killers were really good. One of the highlights... many highlights.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
