According the the Chinese, today's date 8/08/08 is supposed to be particularly lucky - so we are off to a great weekend, everybody. I will probably watch the Opening Ceremonies to the Olympics and do some music posting. Tomorrow I'm going to be a film judge for something at Second Live. Later I'm going to the CountyWide Classic Tennis Match at UCLA - hopefully I will see Andy Roddick vs Marat Safin. And who knows, I might even get my car back from the shop this weekend.

I went to watch Step Brothers last night... funny if you like that type of comedy.

If you've seen the movie... "stunt nuts"

The rest of this weekend is a toss up. I will be attending a graduation tomorrow morning then afterwards I'll either be settling into my new place or maybe take a little road trip back home for a few days to visit family.

Is that THE Poison? Bret Michaels and Unskinny Bop and all that? Fantastic if it is!

2 weeks to REM/Elbow. I am somewhat excited.

This weekend is another of those lazy chillout weekends. Bit of sorting "stuff" but that's all.

Yup. That Poison!!

REM sounds like a winner too!!

Just got back from the tennis match - pretty amazing. Roddick and Vemick were hitting serves in the high 130s mph

Andy Roddick produced his best performance of the week to ease past unseeded German Denis Gremelmayr 6-2 6-2 in the semi-finals of the ATP event in Los Angeles on Saturday.

In doubles:

T Parrott (USA) / D Vemic (SRB) defeated I Kunitsyn (RUS) / M Safin (RUS) 75 64

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
