Credit Crunch Classics

Saturday 30th August 08

@ The Emporium, Coalville

9pm – 5am

1 Double Award Winning Night / The Best Atmosphere In The Country / 8 Hours Of STORM Classics / You – The Loyal Trooper

It’s Time To Party Like Its 1999!!

Petrol prices out of control, gas and electricity bills at record levels, food costs going through the roof and - to top it off – there’s the infamous ‘Credit Crunch’.

We still may not completely understand exactly what it is, but it’s starting to impact on the Storm faithful’s precious party pounds. Enough’s enough - it’s time to take action - so Prime Minister Garbo and Chancellor Daley have put their poncy political hats on to deliver an inflation-busting night that even the most impoverished of clubber can afford.

Storm Credit Crunch Classics will deliver one of the world’s most iconic Hard House superstars for the poor-man’s price of only £8.

We’ve worked hard to deliver an affordable, much-welcomed return to The Emporium for one of the original pioneers of the Hard Dance sound we all know and love – DJ Scot Project. Germany's globetrotting Tech Trance wizard, who helped shape a complete revolution in Hard Dance with anthems such as Overdrive, will be on hand to deliver an exclusive classics set the likes of which has never been seen before in the UK.

2008 Storm Resident Paul Glazby has been tearing up the Emporium all year with his cutting edge filth and trademark no-nonsense style. With a huge Vicious Circle back-catalogue to choose from, plus some of his own personal favourites from the Insomniacz days, you can guarantee we’re in for a special trip down memory lane courtesy of The Dark Destroyer!

Garbo and Daley have clocked up some serious years at the Emporium between them, and it wouldn’t be Storm classics without the terrible twosome delivering the anthems that have helped turn a little known night in the East Midlands into officially the world’s number 1 Hard House club.

Scott Fo-Shaw, Storm’s very own prodigal son, will be showing that the nu-skool of Hard House heavyweights still know a thing or two about the old-skool hits.

Room 2 will be taken over by summer sensation Funk Deluxe. Fresh from rocking the island of Ibiza with their sexy electro and house sounds - even the most stubborn of asses will be shaking when their meaty talent pool delivers a knockout selection of house classics.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
