I'm going to a party tonight for a friend's 85th birthday. He's a former Naval pilot and they are going to surprise him with a plane to fly  Something like the one below - I'm told that the plane was loaned by Tom Cruise. If so, that was a nice thing to do.

I'm flat broke until the 1st. I did absolutely nothing this weekend.

Nothing can be good sometimes.

lol... the reason I'm broke is because I had to pay for the flight out to Ohio... if it wasn't for that, I'd have 350 in my pocket right now!

Yeah, but that wouldnt last the weekend you just described

Somehow I've managed to stretch $75 over 2 full weeks... that's including gas which everyone knows costs an arm and a leg now! I don't know how I did it, but I did, and that's all that matters

Charm and negotiation gets you a long way!

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
