Atlas Sound (aka Deerhunter's Brandon Cox) - Things I'll Miss (Full EP + artwork)

Recommended Posts

In addition to being the frontman of DeerHunter, Brandon Cox plays a lot of instruments - electronics, tapes, drum, acoustic slide guitar, bell set, accordion, electric guitar, piano, bass drum, gong - and he records by himself as well as with the band. This week he was kind enough to release his latest solo EP via his blog. There are a number of nice ambient pieces here - Stereogum has even done a mini-review. In any event, you can check out the music for yourself and see what you think - l've posted a sample of his lyrics below from the lead track.

Get the EP here. Enjoy.

"The worst part of playing music is the homesickness that comes with being on tour all the time."

MY CAR

my car is so white

especially at twilight

my car is so bright

especially at twilight

in two days i'll find

i'm completely desperate

in two days i'll find

i'm completely desperate

my car is so white

escapes depression

takes me through twilight

in several deminsions

my car is so white

i'll miss it's speed

and no one can ever

replace the speed

That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
