Should I.S.P.’s Tell You if They Want to Track Your Surfing?

Kind of a dumb question, really. If they want to pay me, maybe... otherwise, they have no business tracking anyone.

Saul Hansell of the the NY Times Bits Blog takes a look at Phorm and NebuAd - two companies who have begun to track various surfers on the internet, and who plan to sell the information to advertisers?:

"It won’t disclose the Internet providers or advertising companies it is working with. And after the Washington Post discovered two Internet providers it works with — Embarq and Wide Open West — those companies have refused to answer any questions about their relationship with NebuAd."
