Understanding Easter: the chocolate part is easy

As symbols of life and renewal, eggs and rabbits have long been part of the traditions of Easter. In ancient times, myth has it that Eastre (also spelled "Eostre") was the pagan goddess of spring and renewal in Europe. She carried a pet hare, representing new life.

During the medieval era, it was said that eggs were given as Easter gifts to servants. Dating back to ancient times before the Christian era, Ukrainian Easter eggs were decorated to honour the sun gods, ward off evil and bring luck. The tradition of creating beautiful art on eggshells continues today, but the ornamentation has different symbolism.

Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
