"Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters" is the intriguing debut from the Scottish indie folk rockers, The Twilight Sad. The album was produced by Peter Katis, who is best known for producing albums by Interpol and Spoon, and the cd was released on Fat Cat Records (Sigur Ros, Animal Collective).

The album features nine songs, all borderline-epic in scope and full of angst. Check out "That Summer, At Home I Had Become The Invisible Boy," the band's tribute to adolescent romance. In this song, Andy MacFarlane delivers a thunderous mix of shimmering guitars and accordian work, mixed with feedback effects over James Graham's baritone vocal delivery, and the solid rhythm work of Craig Orzel on bass and Mark Devine on drums.

"The kids are on fire in the bedroom"...indeed. And so is this band on stage:

You can check out more of the band's work at MySpace. And if you like what you hear, you can pick the cd up at Amazon.

That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
