RadioHead - In Rainbows (2007)

With "In Rainbows", Radiohead's first album in four years since "Hail To The Thief", Thom Yorke and the band deliver a rhythmically complex mixture of straight-ahead rock and subdued ballads.

The highlights for me leaned more to towards rock:

BodySnatchers

Reckoner

Jigsaw Falling Into Place

Here is a sample ballad from the album, "VideoTape", which Thom Yorke performs solo below:

RadioHead is clearly the band of the moment and at the top of their game. One can't help but admire their experimental approach to rock and they way they involved the listener into the experience of it all. But down the road, the album's free downloading and marketing hoopla are likely to be far more remembered than "In Rainbows" itself.

Get It Here

That said, I wouldn't mind getting my hands on the new box set, which includes: A new album, on cd and 2 heavyweight vinyl records, and digital downloads, nicely recorded at a digitally enhanced bitrate and better than the muffled one we go to download for free. It also includes some new songs, digital photos, artwork (to which you can make your own cover), lyric booklets, all encased in a hardback and slipcase. See the demoon how to put yours together. I will post the link once it becomes available on Amazon.

That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
