Ares chat?

Recommended Posts

I know Yoda hangs out on the Ares forum, so you at least should be able to answer this question. I can't be bothered to sign up for yet another forum. Chop my balls off for laziness if you want, but don't forget all the newbie help i've provided at ZP over the last 6 months!

One person managed to sign in.

I have tree ports forwarded to my computer for BT - 6881-6883. I rarely use 6883, I all user on my LAN are asked to limit BT use to two torrents at a time.

Can I therefore use 6883 as the Chat port for hosting a channel on Ares?

I think it is working properly. I have set up an unofficial beatking chat. drop by if you are on Ares.

Tell me if it doesn't work for you. i am behind Shorewall, so i'm not sure if it will ever work. I'll try and keep the chat open as much as possible, but I can't keep an eye on it all the time.

EDIT: I have had a couple more people log in, although none for more than 10 seconds. My firewall is clearly accepting.

Ya so far, all I know is that you cant create a chat if your behind a firewall. But if you fowarded ports you SHOULD be ok. But don't take my word on that. I'll try to find it when I get home.

But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
