Say Goodbye To Microsoft, Meet Linux

Shit. I don't know.

This seems so strange. The built in GNOME Web Browser doesn't offer the loving that firefox does [blocking specific cookies, java]. As well, text seems strange because it's not New Times Roman. Nor can I access my 2nd hard-drive because it's solely NTFS and linux can't read it.

I'll install some shit and see what I think. -

It should have gave you a boot menu asking if you wanted to boot to the install or the windows.

Couldn't tell you why it never.

As a warning, it's not that easy figuring out how to go about setting it to dual boot. It really seems to want to overwrite windows.

I can't figure out how to install Firefox.

It wont let you install Firefox? What has that got to do with Microsoft? There is more info at goodbye-microsoft, including complaints Here

What the hell does Microsoft have to do with anything? I'm having trouble installing firefox.

Linux can't really make a foothold until they get their stuff together enough [or convince program creators] to have real guided/wizard installs. WTF good is an archive to someone who doesn't know what to do with it? The GUI is nice, but wanting easier program installs comes along with that.

I thought that perhaps the installation of linux was screwing up our other browsers

No, the linux can't even see that windows is there.

However, once I calmed down I saw that the included "Iceweasel" browser is in fact firefox. Far happier camper now.

This is the fourth version I've tried. It's not as straight forward as the Knoppix-cd or windowsish as lindows, but it's pretty good.

I believe this is extremely beta and lots of bugs are there. This is what Ubuntu states...

NOTE THAT THE VERSION BELOW HAS LOTS OF BUGS AT THE MOMENT, AND WE RECCOMEND YOU WAIT UNTIL THE NEXT VERSION BEFORE TRYING IT OUT

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
