Talking Heads-Once in a lifetime

When first came out, it wasn't received well, but once it began heavy rotation on Mtv, it soon became one of their biggest hits & probably their staple song along with Burning down the house. It's from their "Remain in the light album" in 1980. Here's a bit of info for ya. Toni Basil, the artist/choreographer that did "Oh, Mickey" in the 80's, did the choreography for David Bryne in this vid. Her finest work.

Very cool

I have been listening to Fear Of Music on my iPod alot lately--Talking Heads definitely wrote some incredible music during this period.. .

They were still relatively unknown at this point, not until Speaking In Tongues (and "Burning Down The House") came out in what, '83 was it? Do you know the date of the video here, if it was before or after Speaking In Tongues?

I have some fond (but fragmentary) memories of mescaline and Remain in Light... :icon_mad:

You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
