I use it on a regular basis. Out of about 5,000 mp3's it found 4 fakes.

It seems to work only with KaZaa. I don't have any KaZaa apps installed. Is there a program that will scan your files and is run independently that does the same thing?

I've never had any 'fakes'... unless you mean bad files or ones with the first few bars of the tune repeated for the duration?

Sometimes that. Other times the first few seconds of the song is fine, and the rest is just noise. The riaa does this to make file-sharing such a pain in the ass that we give up. The fakes are mostly on Kazaa, but they are starting to turn up elsewhere too.

I've only had a couple of those that I'm aware of in 2 years of filesharing on Soulseek... though there are still some downloads I havent listened to so maybe I need to use the scanner.... :good job:

With Soulseek you should be in good shape. But any app that uses the fasttrack network is bad. Fasttrack is polluted with these fakes!!

I think there is another type of "fakes" as well.....i downloaded a song and it had like beeping in it... like about 10 seperate times during the song
