The Toronto Star interviews Bloc Party's vocalist/guitarist Kele Okereke about their new album:

Now the real work begins.

Bloc Party has pushed its way through the trials of being the best new band to emerge from the U.K. last year — the endless touring, the maddeningly misunderstanding press, the backlash, the requisite slagging from Noel Gallagher — and must now embark on that most daunting of musical tasks: the sophomore album.

According to vocalist/guitarist Kele Okereke, on the line from a recording-studio attic in London "because it's the only place I can get reception on my cellphone," the young quartet is "about 50 per cent of the way through" work on the follow-up to last year's razor-sharp Silent Alarm. And, yes, the second album will be difficult.
