Not bad for $300! I want one :)

M-Audio Black Box Recording and Guitar Interface

The Black Box combines a drum machine, amp simulator, guitar effects processor, microphone pre-amp, and USB port for recording to your computer. With that many features, guitarists can pawn their amp, cancel their recording sessions, fire the roadie, and take advantage of the device's spot-on emulation of 40 classic guitar amplifiers. The obvious test was to plug in a Strat, dial up the Marshall-stack preset, and rock out with Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water." The amps sounded good, but it didn't approach my trusty Fender Twin. And although the drum library is a perk, the beats were a bit repetitive. The numerous effects -- 121 in all -- are the best feature in the box. While this isn't a pro recording device, you get a ton of capabilities at a reasonable price. -- Marco Panella

But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
