Nelly Furtado gets 'Loose' with new sound

Recommended Posts

Chalk it up to a corporate merger, limited promotion or maybe just a record that was too different from her first - whatever the reason, Nelly Furtado's last record tanked.

Most artists would love to sell 400,000 copies of a record in the US, as Furtado did on her second release, "Folklore", which hit stores in November 2003. But it was a disappointment compared with the sales of her 2000 debut, "Whoa Nelly!", which moved 2.4 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and featured the hit song "I'm Like a Bird."

wow... I never even heard of that 2nd album... shows how much promotion went into that one! ... As far as her new album goes, "Promiscuous" featuring (and produced by Timbaland) is getting a big push by top 40, hurban, and hip-hop stations across the nation as well as lots of rotations on MTV and BET. It's also been featured on some commercial... I think it was a Verizon commercial. .

I haven't heard any other song off the album, but with this single, expect it to do better than the 2nd album.
