Sony To Sell Playstation III Models For $499 and $599

LOS ANGELES, May 8 — Sony said on Monday that it planned to sell the base model of its PlayStation 3 video game console for $499, a price that industry analysts said could put it at a competitive disadvantage to rival Microsoft and its Xbox 360.

Sony said that it also planned to sell a higher-priced model with a larger hard drive for $599.

I'm no gaming fan and don't know too much about pricing but it seems too expensive no matter what it has to offer. You can get a nice PC with that money.

I'll wait until the price drops to umm.... like .... 199 or 299... in the meantime, some of my hardcore game-playing friends will buy it on the first day and I'll just play on their system lol

      You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention. 
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
