Very easy to listen to...

From the Good Weather For Air Strikes Blog:

Jimmy LaValle is one of the most talented and musically diversified individuals currently gracing this planet with his presence. A member of no less than five bands, all of which are virtually indistinguishable from one another, the classically trained pianist has no shortage of outlets for his unrivaled creativity. One would be hard-pressed to find two bands more different than The Locust and The Album Leaf, yet LaValle is a member of both. He is also a member of Tristeza, Black Heart Procession, and GoGoGo Airheart, though I am personally of the opinion that The Album Leaf is LaValle's greatest accomplishment to date.

The Album Leaf is the moniker LaValle records under when creating music as a solo artist, and his solo side is very electronics-driven and unmeasurably chill (indeed, "Twentytwofourteen", one of the tracks from his latest full-length, In A Safe Place, found its way on to All Things Go's Sleep Mix, which I highly recommend you check out). The Album Leaf's debut, An Orchestrated Rise To Fall, was released in 1999, though I feel LaValle did not truly hit his stride as a solo artist until the 2001 release of his sophomore LP, One Day I'll Be On Time.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
