I actually thought the third LOTR installment was fairly entertaining, although I was often confused what was going on until the effects came to the rescue. Overall, I thought it was a slim picking year at the Oscars. I think they honored LOTR because of its ambition, the director's perseverence to see the trilogy through, and the board appeal of the fans. Like the movie or not, no one deny its epic qualities. So, no Im not pissed...but I didnt get excited by LOTR's big wins either.

I feel this year's awards were more due to the overall success of the trilogy as a whole than this particular movie, though I too thought it the best of the three, mostly because they didn't edit much out like they did the first two. Fellowship had nearly an hour chopped out of it, and Towers had something like 20 minutes.

Legolas swinging around the murmakil elephant was pretty kickass...next time I'm going to ovethrow an evil darklord I'm definitely bringing him along in my party, lol.

Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
