Borland: Limp Bizkit is 'finished'

Recommended Posts

limpbizkit.jpg"I don't think Limp Bizkit is actually very relevant [to] people anymore," reveals guitarist Wez Borland in a deep new interview with MTV, giving any remaining fans the most obvious sign yet that the former nu-metal giants are finished.

"We've been one of the most hated bands in the world for a long time, and I just think people are over it."

The west coast rap-rock outfit's fall from grace has been sudden and sharp; since releasing 1999's huge crossover hit "Significant Other" the band, which includes vocalist Fred Durst and DJ Lethal, have failed to update their sound, and these days, most of the bandmembers are focusing on other projects. Borland is the first, however, to set the record straight, telling MTV News, "We're officially on hiatus, maybe even officially over. It's kind of up in the air. No one said, 'We're done as a band.' Everyone's just doing their own thing, and [some members] don't have time for this band anymore. I haven't quit, but I've also decided to stop thinking about Limp. I'm not going to keep trying to breathe life into a dying animal."

Last year's "The Unquestionable Truth" went so far under the radar to even elude the band's fanbase, although, as Borland adds, the outcome may have favoured their larger-than-life frontman. "When [Fred] came to us with the idea of not promoting it at all, and not touring, we were like, 'Huh?' And he said, 'Yeah, it will be great - like we're starting from the underground all over again."

"Maybe he was already unhappy with the music, and he didn't really want to put it out there," Borland adds. "It was definitely self-sabotage."

Borland is currently putting the finishing touches to his new album, recorded under the bandname Black Light Burns.

Ahhh well.

They still had some good stuff.

:good job:

At least you have the nuts to admit a) you listened to them, and B) you liked some of the music.

I fuckin hate Fred Durst, but they had about a full CD of good stuff throughout their run.

just ran thru the limp bizkit set on the family values vid again....cambodia, counterfeit and jump around were the tracks they did...no question borland is a very accomplished musician...just watch his fingers and fretwork on jump around...very cool...the bass player is no slouch either...they were certainly a strange mixture...a sort of a convergence of styles and generations in my humble opinion...i like them... :) :)

I unfortunately have to admit that I did, and still do LOVE Creed. Shit, I like Nickelback.

I like the shit that indy heads trash. I like it because it doesn't always have to be some emo/enviro/PETA/FeedTheChildren message.

Sometimes music can just be stupid, and about nothing, but goddamnit, it's fun.

However, that doesn't mean that I have to like Fred Durst and Scot Stapp... and I fucking hate Marilyn Manson fans, even though I am one.

Sometimes, you have to like music for what it is, not the asshole making it.

Agreed. And sometimes you have to hate both the music and the people who made it.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
