'Bubble' hits theaters, TV, DVD on same day

LOS ANGELES — If you live in New Jersey, Virginia or Nevada and want to see the new Steven Soderbergh film Bubble in a theater, pack your bags. It won't be showing in those or more than a dozen other states.

Steven Soderbergh directed "Bubble," which will release on DVD and cable the day it hits theaters.

I'm against this. The notion of doing a limited release theatrically, then expanding to cable or download for those who dont have access to the big city theaters makes business sense. but releasing across all platforms - theater, cable, dvd - will kill the movie business. The reasons the theaters are experiencing less business is because the film business is being

taken over by suits and tv people - they sell creative properties like they are soap - they

are greedy fucks!

Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
