They may have found some sort of statistical correlation with their sample, but the true nature of their sample is yet to be revealed to use, the readers.

The theory is based on research on thousands of men.

Thousands huh? Where were they from? Was the groups diverse in nature (with regards to race, etc..)? How was "data" collected? Survey? How was the survey administered? Could the survey have cut out certain groups of people based upon unrelated factors?

I can't even call it a theory until I know for sure it was a good representative sample, and that the data was gathered in such a way that it did not alter how they received their sample of people.
