"If you believe in love at first sight, you never stop looking."

Who has seen it and what did you think?

I rented it last night, and actually stayed awake throughout the entire thing (this is shocking, because it's rare that I ever stay awake during a movie). It was an odd movie, I thought, but I felt it was interesting because it showed how people can really be. Refreshing because it wasn't super mushy and disguistingly unrealistic. That prince charming shit should go to hell, IMHO. It gives a false impression of the way relationships and human beings work, which only makes people feel badly about themselves when their own lives don't pan out like the movies. Okay, that's a bit extreme, but you get the idea (I hope).

In short, I liked the movie.... maybe because there were slivers of my own life reflected in it.

I'd rather jab my eyeballs with a fork than watch a movie with these actors......

Natalie Portman

Jude Law

Julia Roberts

Also, I try not to look to movies to show how people can "really be" (there are exceptions, but very very very few). This is especially true of movies with these actors, because they just aren't believable in roles that do that.

And really, I try to avoid movies that focus on human relationships in the manor this movie is set in. It’s really something that can only be truly understood (at least a bit) in reality.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
