?uestlove Tells Full Prince/Finding Nemo Story in New Animated Short... And It's Amazing

Last year, the Roots?uestlove tweeted a story too weird to be false: Prince once fired him from a DJ set and replaced him with... a Finding Nemo DVD. Today, ?uestlove has narrated the whole long, amazing story in an original cartoon produced by Okayplayer. Watch it below.

Here's the short of it: In exchange for getting a free ticket to a Prince show, ?uestlove was asked to throw a party for the Purple One. While he was DJing, ?uestlove thought his choice of Fela Kuti would impress Prince... except it didn't, leading to the demotion. As he puts it: "I was flabbergasted, because to that point, nobody fronted on Fela." There are so many more bizarre details to this story that to summarize would be folly; definitely, definitely watch it all for yourself.

      You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention. 
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
