So unless you run Software Update Service (SUS), chances are you will get a mix of SP1 and SP2 running at the same time. Let's just hope you have these programs that are known to experience a loss of functionality when they run on a Windows XP Service Pack 2-based computer and these programs that seem to stop working after you install Windows XP Service Pack 2 patched, upgraded, or removed. Might be a good time for help desk personal to pencil in a week (or two) of vacation."

has anyone tried autopatcher by Antonis Kaladis...? you can stay on sp1 and just pick out the sp2 updates that you want...it`s very cool..... :bigsmile:

I don't have any of my programs on auto update period. I rather know what gets installed on my machine and when.

As Im getting ready to do a format, I just installed all available updates. 20 before I even got to sp2. So far no problems at all, although i really dont like having Billy boy tell me what I have to do with my os. All of this was installed on an install about 1 1/2 years old. The big thing I think that causes problems is systems with spyware on them.
