Pitchfork's Sundance Chalet, Powered by Dell, Reveals Schedule Featuring Run the Jewels, Twin Shadow, Atlas Sound, Phosphorescent

Pitchfork is happy to announce the schedule for the the Chalet, our two-day event focused on film, music and technology, taking place during the Sundance Film Festival this week in Park City, Utah, and powered by Dell. The Chalet will feature performances from Run the JewelsTwin Shadow (DJ set), Atlas Sound, and Phosphorescent (solo), plus events, happy hours, filmmaker panels and presentations led by our sister publication the Dissolve, Dell Precision and Adobe film editing and production demos, and more. Most of the events, including the shows, are open to the public on a first come first serve basis. If you are in Park City and want to attend, RSVP for the performances here.

All day Wednesday, the Chalet will have free drinks, snacks, and DJ sets. There will also be demos and a chance to create characters for a new social film project.

Here's the schedule:

Tuesday, January 27:

10 p.m. to 2 a.m.: Run the Jewels, with an opening DJ set from Twin Shadow

Wednesday, January 28:

11 a.m.: The Chalet opens

12 p.m.:  The Dissolve staff writer Noel Murray moderates a panel called The New Angels: Finding Supporters for Independent Film in the 21st Century. Panelists include representatives from the Austin Film Society, Arts & Labour, the Napa Film Festival, and Intel. 

1 p.m.: Mack Williams, the animator for Pitchfork.tv’s animated series "Frames", leads a demonstration detailing his creative process and screening an episode of his new series for the Dissolve, which takes a look at the history of the PG-13 rating. (An acclaimed animator, Williams has previously worked on shows like “Archer”, “Sealab 2021”, and “Frisky Dingo”.) 

9 p.m.-2 a.m.: Atlas Sound and Phosphorescent (solo) perform

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
      You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention. 
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
