Simon Cowell Tempts Fate - Again

After Victor Mercado serenaded the judges with "Build Me Up Buttercup," the brutal Brit called him a terrible singer and dancer with no charisma. When Mercado argued, Cowell challenged the 23-year-old Mercer Island, Washington, native to prove him wrong, offering $50,000 if Mercado had a #1 single within six months — which happens to be the same bet Cowell made with a singer named Paul Holt on his English show, "The X Factor," last fall.

With all the publicity this guy gets, I would expect him to be something interesting.

Instead he's a poor excuse for a narcissistic, cynically motivated antagonist.

I don't see how anyone could be annoyed or aggravated by him; he's such an over actor, and I've only seen brief clips on news channels and in other places (I’ve never actually witnessed American Idol).

Come on, his persona is fabricated.

he certainly has whatever is apparently required to make a major asshole...but i can`t help thinking that a lot of it is pretend/put on..to make the show more interesting...god knows it needs it..... :rolleyes:

      You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention. 
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
