Billy Corgan Exits Pro Wrestling Company, Writes Musical About Ancient Greece

A few years ago, Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan helped launch Resistance Pro, a pro wrestling company based out of his hometown, Chicago. At one point, an AMC reality show about the promotion was even in the works. Now, his association with Resistance Pro has ended: Over the weekend, he tweeted that he'd "officially and unofficially" left the company:

He's got other plans, though: The Chicago Tribune reported last month that Corgan has written a 20-minute musical about the abduction of Persephone and the Eleusinian Mysteries, which were a set of religious rites in ancient Greece. It's called "Pretty Persephone". The play will be staged in December by the Music Theatre Company of Highland Park.

Additionally, the Smashing Pumpkins have announced a handful of album release shows in advance of the forthcoming Monuments to an Elegy, which is out December 9. The band will be joined by drummer Brad Wilk (Rage Against the Machine) and bassist Mark Stoermer (The Killers). Check out the list of dates below, with more to be added, including Chicago and San Francisco.

They'll also appear on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on December 10.
