Except for a few of the throwbacks (Skynyrd, etc..) I see nothing redeeming about that list, especially the "new artist" crap.

I haven't heard any good new artists........um............since.............um..................................um...........well the.......no, wait that's not true................um..............................................................................

.....................

....................................................................................................

.........................

............A Perfect Circle doesn't count; a lot of veteran musicians there.....................um...................I would say Velvet Revoler doesn't count, but they suck anyway so that's moot.............um............................um........

Well, ok. I'll pin the tag on Alter Bridge. I really like Metalingus. It's a great metal song, but with excellent vocals. The drumming reminded me of Danny Carey from Tool instantly, though I knew it was Scott Phillips. I just never knew he had that kind of drumming in him. I always thought he was good (hearing his work on Creed's "Illusion"/"Allusion" convinced me) but he is a monster on that track. The lyrics aren't incredible, but they aren't bland. They do well with the music that goes with them. Good melodies and of course, that great metal track.

Yes, they have veteran musicians too, but mostly with Creed which was also relatively new so it's different from APC and VR (both from bands in the early 90s and 80s).

But hey, if you don't except that, I’ll have to say the last good "new" thing to emerge came from 1998 (Creed), and you'll hate me even more for that.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
