Keanu Reeves gets place on Hollywood Walk of Fame

keanu_reeves.jpg"Matrix" movie star Keanu Reeves, who rose to fame in "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure," has won a most excellent honour: his own star on Hollywood's prestigious Walk of Fame.

The 40-year-old screen heart-throb thanked his mother after the unveiling of his bronze-edged star which was the 2,277th to be embedded in the pavement where legends from Errol Flynn to Tom Hanks are also immortalised.

"When I was 15 years old and a kid in Canada, I was doing a play called 'Romeo and Juliet'," Reeves said, turning toward his mother who attended the ceremony. "I asked my mom if it was OK to be an actor. She said: 'Whatever you want.' So thanks mom."

Keanu got his real jump start from Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures, a film which lay dormant on the defunct shelves of DeLauurentiis Entertainment for over a year before some bright dude  at Orion Pictures tracked it down and picked it up as an acquisition. Luck plays a big factor in Hollywood, but I think Keanu would have landed up no matter what - he's an interesting guy who chooses interesting projects and he's charasmatic

I think the fact that he seems dumber than a pile of rocks is great.

For some reason, even though I know I shouldn't be taking him seriously in a lot of the action films he has done (I don’t watch him in non-action/Sc-Fi films), I do anyway.

There is definitely something about him....

I think it may simply be the lighthearted, human element to him. He doesn't seem larger than life like Arnold S. is in an action movie, so it brings something different to the table (I like some of the Arnie movies too, but variety is good).

I liked him best in Johnny Mnemonic.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
