Andy Stott Announces New Album Faith in Strangers, Shares "Violence"

Andy Stott: "Violence" on SoundCloud.

Earlier this year, Andy Stott teamed with Demdike Stare's Miles Whittaker to release Drop the Vowels under the name Millie & Andrea. Today, he's announced the proper solo follow-up to his excellent 2012 LP Luxury Problems. It's called Faith in Strangers, and it's out November 18 in the U.S. and November 17 in the UK via Modern Love. That's album cut "Violence" above.

The album was written and recorded between January of last year and June of this year. It was edited and sequenced in July and features "an array of instruments, field recordings, found sounds, and vocal treatments," according to a press release. On various tracks, Alison Skidmore provides vocals and Kim Holly Thorpe plays euphonium.

Stott, both solo and with Whittaker, is performing on the Modern Love tour across North America right now—find those dates below.

Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
