Cosby Lawyer Asks Why Accuser Took So Long

Recommended Posts

billcosby.jpgPHILADELPHIA - The attorney hired to defend comedian Bill Cosby from allegations he fondled a female acquaintance questioned Friday why the woman took a year to come forward.

The woman was formerly an employee at Temple University, Cosby's beloved alma mater. She told police this month in her native Canada that Cosby fondled her at his suburban Philadelphia mansion in January 2004.

"It's pointedly bizarre because it's been a year since it allegedly happened, and she is coming forward," said Cosby's attorney, Walter M. Phillips Jr. "It will be vigorously defended."

Bill Cosby Denies Claims by Second Woman

PHILADELPHIA - Bill Cosby, under investigation for possible sexual misconduct, denied claims by a second woman that he drugged and fondled her. The second accusation dates to 30 years ago, and a prosecutor suggested Wednesday such an old claim likely wouldn't be relevant in the current case.

The 67-year-old comedian's lawyer also blasted the Philadelphia Daily News for printing the accusations by Tamara Green, who was described by the newspaper Tuesday as a model-turned-lawyer who worked for Cosby in California at the time of the alleged encounter.

The report was published as prosecutors mulled whether to file charges against Cosby in the complaint by a former Temple University employee. A decision by Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce L. Castor Jr. could come this week.

My guess is that it has more to do with money than anything else. Cosby has been outspoken to the black community about being more responsible particularly when it

comes to family matters

Prosecutor: Bill Cosby Won't Face Charges

PHILADELPHIA - Bill Cosby will not face charges stemming from a woman's allegation that he fondled her at his suburban mansion after giving her medication that made her woozy, a prosecutor said Thursday.

Authorities found insufficient evidence to support the woman's claims, Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce L. Castor Jr. said in a statement.

A former Temple University employee, who now lives in her native Ontario, told Canadian authorities last month that, after a night out with friends in January 2004, Cosby gave her medication that made her dizzy, then fondled her. She said she later awoke to find her bra undone and her clothes in disarray.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
